STUART MARINE BOILER
No. 491 and 492.
This type of Boiler, fired by the Stuart Blow Lamp, is the most efficient steam generator on the market. The centre flue has cross tubes which are staggered to provide the greatest amount of heating surface to the flame. The boiler is brazed and silver soldered throughout, and is perfectly safe for pressures up to 80-lbs. per square inch. Our standard safety valves are set to blow off at 60-lbs. per square inch. The dome ensures dry steam.
The No. 491 will provide ample steam for the Stuart B.B. and Star Engines. To get full power from the “Sun” and launch engines, the No. 492 should be used.

"The No. 491 Boiler and Blowlamp have arrived in good order. They are simply splendid.”
Design
Very similar to the 1035 boiler these two are larger in diameter. The connection points have been rationalised with the safety valve moving to the dome, the water gauge moving from the dome to the end of the cylinder and the water feed from the side to the end of the boiler. These changes both reduce the cost of manufacture and ease of use. The number of cross tubes has also been reduced, another economy measure. the chimney mounting remains the same.
